Rock Salomon for APFA President
Willingness to Serve Statement
We all understood the need to help our ailing company; the loss of three aircrafts in a single year was incomprehensible. We were willing to contribute in an effort to save our airline.
AMR has become a poster child for the expression "corporate welfare." Employees have given AMR $15 billion since 2003 and yet executives still crave more.
But as we soon learned, the "Turn-Around Plan" wasn't about turning the airline around but rather the employees. When that slogan grew annoying, AMR reimaged it with "FlightPlan 2020." Once again corporate eyes were focused on pillaging the employees, again using threats concocted in the media with the aid of AMR's advertizing dollars.
AMR has become a poster child for the expression "corporate welfare." Employees have given AMR $15 billion since 2003 and yet executives still crave more. Honestly, I know of no job where you can show ZERO progress in eight years and still remain employed - somehow Arpey does.
We work for 1995 wages and per diem the same. Our only increase: a dues increase. We've given APFA $70 million since 2003 and have little to show for it but bag-tags and buttons.
Change is happening all around us, and I want in!!!
The Occupy Wall Street movement's targeting six banks, five of which have a presence on AMR's Board: JP Morgan Chase, Morgan Stanley, Citigroup, Bank of America and Goldman Sachs.
It's time for flight attendants to stand up and fight the corporate freeloading happening at American. We're the only workgroup ever to truly stand up to this company. Let's not forget that.
Please know that I have a team of seasoned professionals (strategy, legal, financial, media) ready to get to get to work, and three running mates who are chompin' at the bit to take on these greedy executives and the banks and politicians that support them.
All we need now is YOU. Are you in?
APFA is OUR union. Let's take it back.
